Glimpse of IWD India 2020

I am Varsha Jaiswal, a Software Engineer by profession and an Organizer & Women Techmakers Ambassador of Google Developers Group, Jalandhar by passion. The love for the community and motivating people led me to be the Gold facilitator of #IamRemarkable initiative by Google. I have also been part of various nation-wide events like IWD India 2020, DevFest 2020, etc. as a speaker and an organizer to help the community out there.

Women Techmakers share a special bond and place in my life. It has helped me to grow and shine every single day. I have been part of this community since 2015 and joined my local community, i.e., GDG Jalandhar & WTM Jalandhar in October 2016. I started volunteering in the events, took sessions in my chapter on a vast range of tech/non-tech topics. The community always led me to a situation where I challenged myself by setting up new targets and the community also helped me to achieve them. The learnings throughout the years helped me to become an Ambassador & the Organizer of the community.

#IWDIndia2020 came into the picture with the discussions about the IWD celebration on one of our monthly call on 23/04/2020, when Dhruva Shastri, fellow WTM Ambassador suggested the idea of having one IWD with all the communities together and yeah, that idea came into life after working day and night together for 3 weeks.

Those 3 weeks not only led to one of the biggest conferences in the nation but also made me learn a lot of things. It made me more confident than I ever was, it made me punctual, responsible, and better every day. Working with brilliant minds across the country and learning various strategies from Lakshya Sivaramakrishnan (Program Manager at Google for Women Techmakers India) about how to take care of the minute takeaways, was a blessing onits own.

The energy of the audience on social media, overflowing love from the people inspired me every day to wake up and dream about the event International Women’s Day India 2020.

And, what more I can dream of when I get the biggest reward because of this event: Getting featured on Google Keyword’s Blog is that one dream which I am living to date.

The one piece of advice I would give to women out there —

Just believe in yourself and push to be the better version of what you were yesterday. If you want to compare yourself with anyone, it should be with the older version of you.

IWD India 2020 was so close to my heart and it became more special because of this one compliment which I received — “Junior Lakshya and the best motivator”

In the end, I must say that #IWDIndia2020 was one of the best memory of the year 2020, and I am awaiting for #IWDIndia2021 with excitement and joy because I have the #CourageToCreate to build, inspire and learn.
